In August 1983, following an NCBLG and NGLTF-led campaign, Mrs. Coretta Scott King announces support for national civil rights legislation protecting the rights of gays and lesbians.

Please Post Your Comments and Recollections About 1986. Be as detailed as possible, including dates and locations and individuals involved. With the help of the site administrator you can include links to documents that are to be uploaded to the Archives. These documents can also be photos and video clips. Some highlights in 1986 included: NCBLG developing a brochure about HIV in the Black community for easy reproduction and dissemination throughout the US; NCBLG planning and hosting the National Conference on AIDS in the Black Community, Washington, DC; NCBLG providing technical assistance leading to the first contract with DC public funds supporting HIV prevention targeting Black Gay/SGL men; and Gil Gerald resigns as NCBLG Executive Director.
